SYNOPSIS |
|
Ancient Indian scripture taught that all life and all beings are composed of five elements. JAL (WATER) in the form of the primordial ocean, in rain and in wells, rivers and spring-fosters birth, nurtures fertility and growth. Prithvi (Earth) is the matter of which all beings are created and to which element they return. AGNI (FIRE) is the flame that warms, energizes, purifies and destroys presents in the hearth, in sacred fires and in the life-giving Sun. AAKASH (SKY, SPACE OR ETHER) is the element of mind and spirit, symbolized by the eternal sound Aum. It is the cradle of all divine thought. VAYU (WIND or AIR) fifth and the final force, is the very breath of life. These rhythms and vibrations of the universe were channelled by the deep tapasya (meditation) of ancient Rishis in to codes, hymns and rituals which form the roots of our culture. They took the shape of the Shrutis which are Vedas and Upnishads, the heart of our philosophy and the Smritis which are made up of the Puranas, Manu-Smriti and the Sutras, which teach history, law and tradition. This is our spiritual heritage, echoing down the ages. Astitva, a musical compilation from the N A Classical is a harmonic interpretation of the five elements of nature and of the scriptures. There is power, healing and inspiration in these rhythms of the universe brought to you by the great stalwarts of Indian classical music. This is a repertoire that will resonate in you long after the music fades; a collection that interprets the soul of Indian music through the Pancha Mahabhuta (Five Elements) as well as Mantras and Vedas. We are proud to present it to you. |
